Here we are, two weeks into 2021. Mid-January outdoor dining ? Yep, we have that. Outdoor live music ? Yep, we have that, too. While we continue to struggle with a global pandemic, many bars, restaurants and other live music venues struggle to keep their doors open. While many musicians have made the choice to stay home and “wait it out”, there are just as many who are struggling to keep their heads above water. There are fewer places to play so, fewer gigs to be had. Regardless of which side of the fence you are on, there are things you can do to help support both the venues and the musicians. Order take-out or delivery from your favorite restaurant, bar, brewery or wherever you would normally go to listen to live music. Listen to local musicians on line or, better yet, buy a single or an album to help show support. Tune in to a “live” broadcast and use the virtual tip jar. No one can blame you for feeling the need to stay home right now but, there are many other ways you can help.
Before I get to the rest of the business, I want to take a moment to express my deepest sympathy to the family, staff and many friends on the passing of Anthony Serafino, co-owner of the Insurrection Distillery in Lehighton. Tony was a great human being, one of the friendliest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and a huge supporter of live music. It will seem so much different setting up to perform there and not raising a glass with you but, we will certainly raise a glass to you. You will be sorely missed.
If you want your event listed here each week, it’s simple and it’s free. Whether it’s a live music event, a virtual performance or any other event, it can be included in the weekly music lineup. If you have new music coming out, a single or an album you would like reviewed or, if you have music you want included on a monthly playlist, let me know and we’ll get the message out there. You can use the “contact us” form on the website, Facebook messenger or email at firstname.lastname@example.org. All I ask in return is that you like, follow, share Voices of the Valley on Facebook. Now, let’s look at this weeks’ music.
