The unfortunate reality of our current situation is that many venues in the area that normally host live music will have to adjust to the new restrictions placed on them in an effort to slow the spread of the Corona Virus. As much as no one wants to hear “You’ve been cancelled” or “postponed”, it’s something that we all have to deal with. Whether you are a musician or planning on supporting someone who is, it means a change in plans and – in many cases – starting now.
I know there are many different sentiments regarding the situation and this post is not meant to take one side or the other. It is simply meant to keep everyone up to date on what is happening with the local music scene for this weekend and beyond. While the new mandate does not take effect until midnight, several places have already taken steps to cancel their events starting with tonights’ shows. I’m sure many will follow suit tomorrow and will continue to do so through at least the first week in January.
I’m not sure I will be able to see every cancellation or keep up with them as they happen. If your event was listed in the Weekly Live Music “HOT SPOTS” yesterday, I’ll ask you for a little help with this weekend. I will pin this post to the top of the page https://www.facebook.com/lvvoicesofthevalley. If your show(s) have been cancelled, add them to the comment thread there so people have one place to go for the info. I will do so with anything I get word on in an attempt to keep the public as informed as possible.
Something I hope everyone will make an effort to do is support these local business owners by ordering take-out, curbside pickup, delivery, etc. If you were planning on attending a show and having dinner there anyway, they can still use your support. Help them stay in business so we all have a place to go play once this is over.
