It’s another busy weekend in the Lehigh Valley for live music. The October edition of the First Friday Concert Series kicks of tomorrow at 5pm on Bethlehem’s South Side with another solid lineup. The opening ceremony for Festival Unbound is also taking place tomorrow at 5:30pm and begins at the intersection of New St and the Greenway in Bethlehem. Learn more at http://www.festivalunbound.com. Meanwhile, on Saturday and Sunday, the Easton Garlic Festival kicks off at 10am each day and you can find the full lineup at http://www.eastongarlicfestival.com.
Getting the weekend started early is never a bad thing and, we have a few spots for you to check out tonight. If you’re on the Jersey side, go see Joe Janci at Moe’s Bistro at 6pm. Godfrey Daniels has Tom Paxton & The Don Juans at 7pm. Ticket info for all Godfrey’s shows can be found at http://www.godfreydaniels.org. You can make your own music at Peary Baker’s Ale House starting at 9pm with host Carter Lansing and enjoy some late night entertainment with The Dregs at the Funhouse Southside at 10:30pm.
In addition to the First Friday Concert Series and the opening ceremony for Festival Unbound, here’s a few more suggestions to keep you busy. Chelsea Meyer will be at the Foundation Tavern at 7pm, and the Dave Goddess Group will take the stage at the State Theater at 7:30. At 8pm, you can stop by Colonial Pizza and listen to the classic rock sounds of Mark Hannig. Doug Kaetz will be at Liberty Union at 8:30pm and the HeadEye Trio will be at Touchstone Theater as part of Festival Unbound starting at 9pm. You will need to get your tickets if you want to see Hipster Assassins at Godfrey Daniels (8pm) and the Funhouse always has two shows on First Friday at 6pm (Ditch the Rain) and 10:30pm (Redwood Reggae). There is also one late change to the First Friday lineup where Nick Lindsay will be filling in at Revel Social starting at 5:30pm.
Saturday marks the start of the Easton Garlic Festival as well as Oktoberfest at Steel Stacks where Smooth Retsina Glow will take the stage at 12:30pm. Doug Kaetz will entertain you at Mountain View Vineyards starting at 1:00pm. The Draught House in New Jersey has it’s own version of Oktoberfest and will feature local favorite Mosey Beat starting at 3. The evening gets started at 7:00pm with Brian Kibler at the Beef Baron, Nick Lindsay at Gallows Hill Spirits and Joe Argese at Faraco’s Pizza. Silk City will be at Godfrey Daniels, Neil Grover at Boser Geist Brewing and Ralph Pagano at Colonial Pizza all get started at 8:00pm. Wonderground will finish off the night at the Funhouse at 10:30.
Sunday has the Godfrey Daniels open mic night with featured artists Paul & Derek Berger. Sign-ups start at 7pm and there is a $3.50 cover charge. You can always count on the Funhouse to keep things going late and, Sunday is no exception. Finish off your weekend with Public Displays of Rejection starting at 10:30. If you are looking to start the day early, Doug Kaetz would love to have you join him at Blue Ridge Vineyards at 2pm. If you are a Flyers fan and you plan on attending their home opener on Wednesday, 10/9, get down to Philly early and join Doug Kaetz at Xfinity Live for a pre-game concert.
If you are a fan of festivals, you have two days of great music at the Easton Garlic Festival on Saturday & Sunday and Festival Unbound runs from 10/4/19 through 10/11/19.
