Live Music “HOT SPOTS” 9/26-9/29

Summer has come to an end and, as September winds down, so does the local festival season. We’re not quite finished yet, though. The final weekend of September brings us two more great festivals where you can enjoy live, local music and so much more. The Allentown Arts Festival kicks off Friday evening at Cedar Beach Park in Allentown. You can enjoy live music all weekend from local artists like Shane Reimer and Them Spicy Boize, Brandon Bors, Darin Jellison and many others, too numerous to mention. The festival will also feature the Martin Guitars Songwriter’s Showcase on Saturday at 4pm on the main stage. One lucky songwriter will walk away with a brand new Martin Guitar. for all of the details and a full lineup, visit http://www.AllentownArtsFest.com.

On Sunday afternoon you will find more live music in Easton as the second annual College Hill Porchfest takes place from 2-6pm. Come out and see 40 different artists on 20 porches throughout College Hill at this totally free, family friendly event. There will be live music from Acoustic Kitty Project, Blue Hearts Revelry, Matt Dellecker, Mark Hannig and many more. For full details, a site map and a full lineup, visit http://www.collegehillporchfest.org.

As always, if festivals aren’t your thing, there’s plenty more live music to keep you going. Tonight has a few shows to get your weekend started early. Cave Brewing Company has live music from 6-9pm featuring Nick Lindsay and Ralph Pagano. Godfrey Daniels will be hosting the Glengarry Bhoys at 7pm, Seth Witcher will be appearing at Steel Stacks while the Stray Seeds will be at Southside 313 at 9pm and the late night has Taylor O’conner at Pearly Baker’s Ale House and Banchi at the Funhouse Southside, both starting at 10pm.

Friday, get out and visit the brand new Allentown Public Market and enjoy the sounds of Seth Witcher starting at 5pm. Matt Dellecker will “take the stage” at Colonial Pizza at 8, Shane Reimer will be at Southside 313 at 9pm and the night wraps up with Redwood Reggae at Pearly Baker’s and Dead & Beyond at the Funhouse at 10pm.

Start your day early with Billy Bauer on Saturday at 10am at the Easton Public Market. Looking for something to do in the afternoon ? The Castaway Band has you covered at Weyerbacher Brewery at 1:30pm. The evening gets started at 8pm with Jonny Cornelius at Colonial Pizza and Smooth Retsina Glow making their first appearance at the Bally Hotel. Mosey Beat will be at Jack’s Tavern and Will Kiss You will be at Southside 313 at 9pm while The Imposters are at Pearly Baker’s and Gigantic brings their Pixies Tribute Show to the Funhouse, both at 10pm.

You can finish off your weekend with the Godfrey Daniels open mic night at 7pm on Sunday, then walk next door to catch the Stray Seeds in action at the Funhouse. If that’s not enough for you, head down to Pocket Park on Monday at 11:30am where Seth Witcher will spice up your lunch break with some more great music.

It’s always a good time and a good idea to get out and support live, local music. Without it there would be no music at all because everyone started out local somewhere. The venues that host live music deserve your support as well. They give the musicians a place to perform and you the opportunity to enjoy them. While you’re at it, take some music home with you. Many of the artists have CDs and other merchandise for sale and would love your support.
